Personality

Stoic and subdued, Malark is frequently thought of as an intimidating person, or simply one to be avoided unless necessary. No-nonsense and not to be messed with, Malark keeps his distance from his companions to get the job done with maximum focus....Or so it seems. The ice-cold front he presents is entirely accidental, the unintended product of the permanent scowl of his features and his social awkwardness.In reality, Malark shies away from small talk, preferring the comfort of silence over filler conversations. However, when properly approached, Malark is a gentle, reliable person with a natural sense for looking out for others.This instinct comes out particularly strongly in the presence of children. Malark not only has a strong protective streak for children, but also takes joy in their company, thus, his hometown knows him to be a reliable babysitter despite what his first impression may imply.Despite being more benign than his face would suggest, however, the fears surrounding him are not entirely unfounded. In the rare times that he is well and truly upset, he can turn sharp-tongued and even hit someone where it hurts with his words. And while he does believe in helping others, he makes a point of staying cautious while doing so, and thus will avoid requests he's not confident he can survive or fulfill.

Backstory

Born to a pirate and an acolyte of Azuria, his pirate father took him along out to the sea after a messy separation with his mother. It ultimately doesn't last long, however, as eventually his father ran afoul of other pirates, who took the child for themselves as their slave.In the harsh and unforgiving rule of pirates, he would endure years of trauma and hardship. His only solace would come in the form of an old amulet, passed onto him by his father. This amulet turned out to not only belong to his mother, but also function as a holy symbol for Azuria, who he began praying to and ultimately devoted himself to.One day, during a fierce battle, the pirate crew that enslaved him was slaughtered to the last man. Hidden underneath crates and boxes, he was eventually discovered by the captain of the crew that fought the pirates. Horrified at the state he had found a traumatized, amnesiac child in, the Captain decides to bring him home and raise him as family, giving him the name he now uses today.Under the care of the Captain's family, Malark's life takes a drastic turn for the better. He becomes nearly inseparable from his adopted father, accompanying him everywhere and learning from him every step of the way. Eventually, though, the Captain becomes old and ill. Determined to repay the old man for everything, Malark sets out as an adventurer to make money to send back to his adopted family.

Fate Verse

Rider/Caster-Class Servant (Double Summon)Strength: B+
Endurance: A
Agility: C
Mana: A++
Luck: B
NP: A+
Effectively two classes rolled into one, Malark's many experiences and capabilities are reflected in a vast skillset and 4 Noble Phantasms.Runic Eye: Despite not having been a cleric of Odin, his deeds as an adventurer won him the favor of the order of Odin's clerics. The magical eye and his swordstaff are blessings from them given as thanks. Both his spellcasting and sense of perception are greatly increased thanks to this magical eye. This Noble Phantasm is continuously invoked, thanks to it literally being fused to his body.Replica Ravenstaff: The other gift from the same order that gave him his eye, this weapon isn't quite as powerful as the real deal. Nevertheless, it serves its purpose well as another conduit for Malark's magic as well as being a powerful weapon in its own right.Jotun's Bolt: Malark's single most powerful spell. It calls forth a bolt of the purest lightning, wreaking havoc wherever he points it at.Stormrider: Malark's warship, passed down to him from his adoptive father. Despite being "merely" a frigate-class warship, it's nevertheless a mobile fortress packing devastating power in its cannons. However, Malark can only summon this ship while he's out in the open sea.

Genshin Verse

Vision: Hydro
Weapon: Polearm
Constellation: Tempestas Custos (Storm Guardian)
Though Malark was born in Snezhnaya, he has little to no memories of the place. His father had taken him away from his homeland, only to be captured by pirates and used for their purposes. His fortunes would change again upon being adopted by a sailor in Fontaine, where he would get to live a mostly normal life as his adopted father, Captain Soller's right-hand man.Malark would get his Vision when he was the last man standing to defend the crew from raiders, even as his weapons and armor broke, and his body got more and more injured. His Vision's awakening would heal him and bring down the rest of the opposition, but he immediately fell asleep once he was done.Nowadays, he resumes his life as a sailor, serving as defender to his crew. He's expected to become Captain one day, but for the time being he has no plans to do so. Nevertheless, he commands respect and is seen as a reliable figure.
